These innovations include silicone-based finishes and polyurethane coatings, which are considered safer for both users and the environment.

Another approach is the use of tightly woven fabrics that naturally repel water without the need for chemical treatments. Materials like waxed cotton, hemp, and recycled polyester are gaining popularity as sustainable options in the production of bags and backpacks.
